The Lode occurrence is located in a cirque east of Tsenaglode Lake and Peak 1973 (Thenatlodi Mountain), 27 kilometres south (bearing 173 degrees) of the town of Dease Lake and 6 kilometres west of Highway 37.

The Lode showing was discovered following anomalous silver encountered in a stream-sediment sample in Silver Creek (2012). This led to prospecting and soil geochemistry and induced polarization surveys later the same year. The surveys showed a moderate chargeability feature and coincident multi-element soil geochemical anomaly. Gossanous weathering and strongly silicified Lower-Middle Jurassic Spatsizi Formation (Hazelton Group) sedimentary rocks contain abundant disseminated pyrite and local arsenopyrite. Locally, calcareous sedimentary rocks contain garnet-diopside-epidote skarn assemblages. Alteration and mineralization are likely related to intrusion of the adjacent potassic phase of the Middle Jurassic Three Sisters Plutonic Suite.

The Lode grid is of high interest given its widespread propylitic alteration of volcanic and sedimentary rocks that surround quartz monzonite and syenite phases of the Three Sisters Plutonic Suite. The area between Tsenaglode Lake and Silver Creek in the northern half of the Lode grid identified significant zones of veins that host copper and silver mineralization with grades above 0.5 per cent copper. In addition, quartz monzonite in the area is inherently elevated in molybdenum. A weak multi-element anomaly was identified over the Silver Creek skarn, which is coincident with a moderate chargeability feature. Three additional chargeability high features were identified and are each coincident with a high resistivity response. Rocks containing pyrite and chalcopyrite in narrow veins and as fine disseminations underlie these chargeability and resistivity highs.

In 2017, rock samples were taken in four zones (Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, and Southwest) over the Lode block of claims. Samples TLR-31 and 32 were taken from a syenite in the Northeast zone and analyzed 1.27 and 2.26 per cent copper, respectively. Sample TLR-31 displayed weak azurite and malachite staining and TLR-32 contained vuggy sulphides (chalcopyrite, bornite). The Southeast zone yielded 6.12 per cent copper (sample BLOR-2) and 1.21 per cent copper (sample BLOR-6). BLOR-2 was taken from a sheared quartz vein containing chalcopyrite; this sample also returned values of 521 parts per billion gold and 39.7 parts per million silver. BLOR-6 was taken from an andesite described as a vuggy green epidote skarn with 5-6 per cent chalcopyrite. Sampling from the Southwest zone returned 2.65 per cent copper (TLR-17) and 1.17 per cent copper (TLR-14). Sample TLR-17 was taken from a diorite with a coarse-grained calcite vein containing sulphide blebs (chalcopyrite and bornite) and malachite selvages. TLR-14 was taken from an andesite with trace chalcopyrite. Sample TLR-24 returned 1.26 per cent copper which was taken from an unknown brecciated material with disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite and fine silica stringers. Sample TLR-29 assayed 5.06 per cent copper and was taken from a syenite with blebby chalcocite. Two additional samples returned notable gold values of 240 parts per billion (TLR-21), which was taken from a strongly fractured andesite with chalcopyrite, and 141 parts per billion (TLR-23), taken from a syenite with trace malachite and a massive hematite vein (Assessment Report 37065).

The Lode showing is an area within Quartz Mountain Gold's Galaxie Property which has seen exploration over a large area since 1960, when copper mineralization was discovered near Lower Gnat Lake.

From 2011-12, Quartz Mountain Resources Ltd. completed extensive geochemical, prospecting, mapping, geological, geophysical and drilling work in the area. The work identified several targets, including what are now the Lode (104I 170) and Hotai claim blocks.

In 2017, Kestrel Gold Inc. carried out surface exploration on the Dease Porphyry project (South Block) which consisted of geochemical soil, rock and biogeochemical sampling. A total of 92 rocks were collected over the property, 37 from the Hotai block and 55 from the Lode block. A total of 29 soil samples and 91 biogeochemical samples were taken variably over prospective zones on the Hotai block (new showing).
